I personally haven't but I'm planning to get it also as it would be interesting to be playing as an Islam ruler

RE: Crusader Kings II

We had another productive CKII session last night! We started a new game and went Irish: Blitz, INQUE, and I played the Earls of Ulster, Tyrconnell, and Breifne respectively.

Blitz had a bit of bad luck and failed to father a male heir before his character kicked the bucket. He continued to play as his daughter, Irelandia. INQUE, on the other hand, had a failure of a son who had no marketable skills whatsoever. I was lucky enough to have a son (whom I named Shaft) early on, and sent him off to be educated by INQUE's council steward. Soon, we were sending off all our children to be educated by one of the other players -- I was in charge of the education of one of INQUE's daughters and one of Blitz's daughters.

I had a blast with the frequent events that popped up during this stage (although I didn't appreciate INQUE's daughter Jorjina calling my wife fat). I tried to guide them to develop good and useful stats whenever I could, but I have to admit I milked them for piety points by "praying for their improvement" whenever the situation arose -- particularly useful because my ruler's ambition was to become a paragon of virtue by amassing 500 piety points! I ended our session with less than 200 piety, though.

Once INQUE successfully managed to fabricate a claim to the neighboring county of Tyrone, we arranged a marriage between Shaft and Jorjina and formed an alliance between our families. We raised our levies, steamrolled into Tyrone, and took with county easily.

Unfortunately, Blitz also had a claim on Tyrone and tried to join the battle. Unexpectedly, his troops started fighting our allied army after the local forces had been wiped out -- apparently INQUE and Blitz were hostile to each other as far as the game can tell, because they both tried to take the same county without forming an alliance first. Without any sons to marry to any of our daughters, Blitz had no way of forming an alliance at the moment.

Tyrone was now INQUE's territory. Because INQUE now controlled half of the de jure duchy of Ulster, he was able to create the title of Duke of Ulster by paying some gold for it. Apparently, even a thousand years ago, life's problems could still be alleviated by throwing some gold at them. The game ended with the other neighboring county of Oriel invading INQUE's newly annexed county of Tyrone.

So our twenty year saga ended, because it was time to sleep -- we might start yet another new game next time, preferably with more players to roll along with us! I'm looking forward to a proper game that will last until the endgame. What do you guys feel like playing for the long haul? Ireland? Eastern Europe? The Holy Roman Empire?

RE: Crusader Kings II game discussion and AARs

Be advised: I started a new thread to contain all our how-to-play links and discussion regarding CK2.

This thread is now for game announcements, schedules, AARs, war stories, and other CK2 concerns that don't involve rules, tutorials, and guides. Carry on, my lords!

I was the guardian to Blitz's daughter who was the direct heir of his county. After he passed away, I was getting random events on shaping his daughter into a just and powerful leader. Let's just say, the powerful was a bit too much and she ended up being a lesbian. What did I do wrong 8(

RE: Crusader Kings II game discussion and AARs

Sure we can play late afternoon to early evening on Sunday, I am free.

Also, I finally got to run the GoT mod. I played as House Tyrell (because they have the largest military force in Westeros) and since they were traditionally supporting the original King Aerys and House Targaryen, I fought for the Mad King.

With my massive army I was able to crush the Usurper armies from the North and House Baratheon ending Robert's Rebellion by laying siege and destroying his Capital, Storm's End.

Here's a screenshot of the aftermath with Robert Baratheon captured and held in the Dungeons of King's Landing.

Are you guys up for a game this Wednesday evening? I'll do a brief rundown of the basic concepts and controls for anyone who needs a primer. I'm a relative newbie too, so we'll kind of be learning this crazy thing together. 8) Reply to this thread to join the list of participants.
