The best gaming videos you need to watch for the week of 21 Oct
This week is packed with some truly impressive footage, the kind that really makes me excited for the future of PC gaming, with the Nvidia tech day video, well worth your time by the way (despite it clocking it at 1hr41), BF4's graphical fidelity pushing the boundaries of GPUs and Watch Dogs' narrative (whenever it actually comes out!).
Batman: Arkham Origins - Gotham City PD infiltration gameplay demo
[youtube_sc url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqM2Xp5vsac"] Check out this 17 minute gameplay footage where Batman infiltrates the Gotham City Police Department in Batman: Arkham Origins. I actually just picked up the first 2 Arkham games as they were on sale earlier this week on Steam, as they finally removed GFWL so this is definitely on my radar. Perhaps the only issue with this otherwise great footage is possibly the glaring frame rate problem, perhaps due to the fact that its running on a PS3 at only 30fps. Otherwise I have high hopes for this on the PC. Definitely worth looking into if you're a fan of the dark knight.
John Carmack, Tim Sweeney and Johan Andersson Panel - NVIDIA Tech Day 2
[youtube_sc url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH2hjhcfWic"] Allow me to nerd out here as I introduce my favourite video of the past week where we have three of the most respected game developers got together at Nvidia's tech conference where they announced a bunch of new products relevant for pc gamers. If you ask me, this is a must watch if you're interested in the future of pc gaming or hardware as a lot of people would pay good money to even listen to these three speak at a conference. Sit back and let the knowledge and insights from John Carmack, Tim Sweeney and Johan Andersson flow into your brain.
Invasion: The Real-World Technology of Watch Dogs
[youtube_sc url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UNIfv3ZNT0"] Never mind that the game has been delayed 6-8 months. It still looks great and the narrative is very much within the cultural Zeitgeist. In Watch Dogs, players hack into Chicago's extensive surveillance network and use it as a weapon. Polygon's Charlie Hall investigates the real surveillance technology being used in Chicago and finds a truth uncomfortably close to fiction. This video is an eye opener and brings to light the reality of the surveillance state the United States is slowly becoming.
Only in Battlefield 4: Anthem TV Trailer
[youtube_sc url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAH__zmdkk4"] With only a week to go, excitement for Battlefield 4 is at an all time high for most gamers including yours truly. In this trailer you get to see the graphical fidelity of Frostbite 3 in full effect and in all its glory. We've actually got a small squad in the community that has already pre-ordered BF4 and we're planning to play regularly. Tweet me at @blitzio or join us in the steam chatroom where we usually hangout and we can take it from there.
Have I missed any other interesting this last week? What did you think of my picks? Leave a comment and let me know.
