GameStart is back – Southeast Asia’s biggest gaming convention
GameStart, the convention for the Asian gaming community is back this year with double the floor space, an industry conference and even their own mobile game. We had a blast covering GameStart 2014, and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better.
Gamestart 2015 will be held from 13-15 November at Singapore’s Suntec Convention Centre Halls 401 and 402. Event highlights include the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals, which will see the top Street Fighter players from Asia fight for a qualifying place in the global Capcom Cup tournament at the end of the year. Also returning is an expanded FIFA tournament with big prizes and more qualifying rounds than last year.
Attendees can expect to check out a Founders Base which showcases the indie game developer scene from Singapore, Hong Kong and the rest of the region. Sony will also be there to showcase their games on the Playstation 4.
There’s a lot of excitement from the community on this event and a lot of people we know at OMGeek are really looking forward to attending GameStart 2015. “The response to last year’s show completely blew our expectations,” said Elicia Lee, Director of Eliphant Pte Ltd, which organises the event. “We knew that there was a gap in the market for a consumer gaming event, but we didn’t quite expect the turnout and it was great to see the wide range of attendees. Besides the gamers, there were also tourists and families which was really fantastic. It just proves that gaming is no longer a niche activity, but one that everyone can get into.”
