As promised! Here is the very first video for our OMGeeks Play series. We decided (blindly) to start off with a genre that we know nothing about! Blizzard's new MOBA: Heroes of the Storm. Watch us struggle on how we play and ultimately fail on our attempts to try to get to the other side of the map. [youtube_sc url="http://youtu.be/uiTdpz8RR-Y"]
Please do subscribe to the channel if you like the video! Please do let us know as well on how we did and how we can improve for the coming videos!
Hey folks! I apologize if you haven't been hearing much of me through the blog posts! Because running a startup with Jed has been really crazy for the past few months, but we promise to be back on the blogging roll call once again since Mike has been doing a terrific job providing constant content through Wideo Wednesdays! Anyways, I'm here today to show off some videos that we tried recording over the weekend. We're musing on maybe doing some "Let's Play" videos for OMGeek's Youtube channel. Just some grown-ups trying to struggle with some games, while providing some funny (hopefully!) commentary.
Here are some test videos of me and Jed trying to survive Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army, I used Nvidia's Shadow Play to record these videos and I must say the technical quality of the recording is really good!
If the community has any suggestions or ideas on how to give a unique spin for OMGeek's Let's Play, please do let us know through the comments!
Our very generous friends over at Asiasoft sent me a wonderful email filled will closed beta keys for the upcoming MMO, Phantasy Star Online 2. If you fancy yourself on joining the closed beta for Phantasy Star Online 2, simply pick a key below and follow the instructions on how to activate it.
And here are the instructions to activate the key:
1. Visit http://bit.ly/PmhHJa
2. Enter PlayID account and BETA Key
3. Download the client and wait for the Beta Dates
The closed beta will officially start on April 10, 2014 @ 3pm (GMT+8) and will end on April 13, 2014 @ 11:59pm (GMT+8). Here's hoping closed beta will be a smooth experience but as with any beta, get ready to experience some hiccups here and there.
Oh and did I mention that gaining access to the closed beta test will also give you a 2-day head start when the game is finally out on May 27, 2014? You're welcome.
A challenger has appeared (in the MOBA genre that is!). Strife is finally entering closed beta and if you haven't registered yet, you can do so now! Confession time, since it's going to be the holidays and all, I would really want to get this off my chest: Jed, Jayvee and I attended a press event on Strife last October and we kinda forgot to post about it. To make up, I present you pictures of the said event:
We also got codes that can give you guaranteed access to the closed beta! If you're interested, just leave a comment below this post and please make sure to leave your deets on where you want us to send the codes!
UPDATE: Keys are all gone!
Yes I too am a bit mystified by the headline, but interested nevertheless! I've been watching a lot of Elementary (please don't judge) and have been itching to get my deduction skills on! According to the Kickstarter page:
Contradiction uses 100% live-action video, with minimal graphic content or overlays. It's flexible, reactive and fast-paced, but also has the characterisation, plot and atmosphere of a TV crime drama or movie. In short, I'm trying to make a well-shot, well-acted, modern, genuinely interactive movie!
Live-action video in my games? That's some 90's video game magic right there! Sign me up!
And if your interest has been piqued, you can go ahead and check out their Kickstarter page. Deadline for funding will be on January 6, 2014.
An indie game with shockingly good hand drawn animation, a puzzle platformer, with magnetic and electric powers? I am electrified with delight! Okay enough with the puns go check the trailer! [youtube_sc url="http://youtu.be/3Ti2CGLmMVc"]
After your thunderous applause, you can expect the game to come out on December 13, 2013 and will be sold at $9.99. You can purchase the game directly from their site, Steam and GOG.
Want to know more? You can read the press release below:
Teslagrad is a puzzle platformer with action elements, where magnetism and other electromagnetic powers are the key to go throughout the game, and thereby discover the secrets kept in the long abandoned Tesla Tower. Gain new habilities to explore a non-linear world with more than 100 beautiful hand-drawn environments, in a steampunk-inspired vision of old Europe. You play as a young boy who suddenly finds himself embroiled in a long-forgotten conspiracy, involving the despotic king who has ruled the nation with an iron fist for several years. Jump into an outstanding adventure told through voiceless storytelling, writing your own part. Armed with ancient Teslamancer technology and your own ingenuity and creativity, your path lies through the decrepit Tesla Tower and beyond.
- Complex puzzles! Put your sense of logic to the test and cleverly manipulate the world around you using electricity and magnetism, the lifeblood of the game. Puzzles will range from “pff, that wasn't so bad” to keyboard-smashing, controller-chewing frustration.
- Explore! Make your way through rich 2D hand-drawn surroundings as you journey into — and beyond— Tesla Tower, as you discover and use amazing new items.
- Visual storytelling! Tired of all those words in your video games? Have no fear, Teslagrad features not a single snippet of text or squeak of dialogue. Everything is purely visual, and the entire story is told through what you see (and sometimes what you don't see).
- Steampunk powered! Discover a dystopic and mind-blowing rainy-and-brainy setting, presenting a steampunk vision of an old Europe-inspired new world.
- Old-school boss fights! Use your skills and wits to overcome the 5 incredible final bosses eager to demagnetize you.
- No disruptions! That means no loading screens, no GUI, no cutscenes. Just the game and you.
- Mesmerizing soundtrack! Awesome mix of classical orchestra, with a touch of Russian inspiration and a myriad of metal bit and electrical stuff.
